The lighthouses have been there for decades, leading voyagers through the treacherous passages of coastal Norway. Their lights have saved many a sailor lost in night and fog. This exhibition is a tribute to the people who dedicated their lives to keeping lamps clean and lights shining. The lighthouse keepers – who chose a life of isolation in the roughest of climates, facing challenges unknown.

The lighthouses documented here lie all along the long coast of Norway. Magnificent cathedrals of light, their rays sweeping through the night – showing the way – illluminating the past and pointing to the future.

You are cordially invited to the opening reception of “Coastal Cathedrals” @ Trygve Lie Gallery, Thursday, June 13, 6–8pm.

This is the same exhibit that’s currently open at the Hurtigruten Terminal in Bergen, Norway.
