About Norway

To help you more easily find your way around in Norway, Lighthouses of Norway created some pages that hopefully will help. We “brutally” split the country into five areas: North, Mid, West, South, and East.

Many will disagree with where we drew the lines, but we wanted each area to have an international entry-by-air city, specifically; Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Trondheim, and Tromsø.

Also, we created a county page for each of five areas, and all the lighthouses we’ve found so far listed under each area and county.

Most posts and pages also have Google maps to help further locate the numerous islets, islands, roads, and outposts. Many towns and islands in Norway have the same name, and googling can be misleading.

You might wonder why we included “Dining” under “Activities” … clearly no one in Norway is starving, and you can get food just about everywhere. However, if you have to travel by boat for, let’s say, one hour to get to a small restaurant, we think that qualifies as an “Activity,” and only those are categorized as such.
